Greyscale by Color Key
Select a color and range to keep, all other pixels are converted to greyscale.
This effect takes 4 parameters:
- P0: Range (in degrees)
- P1: Blue
- P2: Green
- P3: Red
All color is grey, except blue.
Blend by Color Key
This effect is similar two 'Greyscale by Color Key' , except that it blends in the
luma channel of an overlaying sample.
- P0: Range (in degrees)
- P1: Blue
- P2: Green
- P3: Red
Black/White on Threshold
This effect sets all pixels to white if it is in range of
a selected threshold range, all others are set black.
- P0: minimum threshold
- P1: maximum thershold
Strong Luma Magic
This effect blends two frames together, frame B was selected as overlaying channel on frame A.
frame A
,frame B
This effect has only 1 parameter:
Apply this effect 3 - 5 times with different parameters to get similar effects as below.
Magic Tracer
This tracer effect blends 2 video frames and puts the previous result on the current frame, depending
on which mode you have selected the frame may or may not appear to be flickering, this is due to
the function chosen by P0, you'll experience this most with video clips containing less or no motion at all.
This effect has 2 parameters:
- P0: blend type (1 - 30)
- P1: number of frames
Tracer
This tracer effects blends 2 video frames and puts the previous result on the current frame, this is much
like the Magic Tracer but this one only does opacity.
This effect has 2 parameters:
- P0: opacity (0-255)
- P1: number of frames
Matte Scratcher
This scratcher effect has 4 parameters:
- P0: Mode (0-4)
- P1: Fade in (0-255)
- P2: number of frames
- P3: bounce or trace
Magic Scratcher
This effect has 2 scratcher modes: bounce and trace and is most effective in grayscaled video frames (no chroma). The effect takes these parameters:
- 0 : Blending type (Additive/Screen/Difference ...) (0-17)
- 1 : Number of frames to trace/bounce (0-25)
- 2 : Bounce or Trace (0-1)
Overlay Scratcher
This effect has 2 scratcher modes: bounce and trace. The effect takes these parameters:
- 0 : Opacity 0 - 255
- 1 : Number of frames to trace/bounce (0-25)
- 2 : Bounce or Trace (0-1)
(rc8) This effect has only 1 scratcher mode : trace and takes only the first 2 parameters
Smooth Chroma Key
(rc8) This effect keys in frame 1 on frame 2. The effect takes these parameters:
- 0 : angle 0 - 90 degrees
- 1 : Green (0-255)
- 2 : Red (0-255)
- 3 : Blue (0-255)
- 4 : Smooth Level (0,1,2,3 or 4)

Overlay Magic
This effect takes only 1 parameter (1-30), the images below were overlayed with itself.
In most modes it blends only the luma channel over the foreground frame, overlaying samples will then appear grayscaled. This effect was applied multiple times.
veejay - EffecTV
You can use the vloopback device to chain multiple instances of veejay and EffecTV:
veejay - Chained Effects
You can chain up to 10 effects in veejay, the still belows were created
by using multiple strong luma overlays and the raw cb/cr replacement effect.
